Description

Many gamers think HellGate Menace is the best level in the Lost Trials. The boss fight with the demon-like foe HellGate Menace has many effects and attacks that were added by the author. This keeps the passage interesting and makes it feel epic when paired with dramatic music.

HellGate Menace is unique because the boss appears three times during the encounter. The boss first appears directly in front of the player, then fades to the background and changes form. Bat minions are there to assist it, as well as with their own assaults. The passage is complicated by the regular background flickering and visual neon effects (thunderstorms and flashes) that can be seen. Because the fight takes up almost the entire level, HellGate Menace can sometimes be classified as an Easy Demon or Insane.

There may be lags, but a low-detail option is available to eliminate them. This is due to the complex boss's look and effects. This level was created in a simple manner, which is typical of its creator. It's "near neon."

The color palette is dominated by purple and red flowers, which gives it a very hellish feel.
